Job Description

Red Wing Shoe Company is seeking a footwear designer, focused on delivering innovative, outdoor solutions. This position is a great opportunity for a highly creative designer to build and expand our Outdoor product performance.

The purpose of this role is to inspire and provide strategic support through design innovation for Development, Sourcing, and all Global Manufacturing Partners – from ideation to commercialization. This role would be responsible for working with multiple projects, brands, and cross- functional partners.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design or a related field and a minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in footwear design; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of footwear manufacturing process and materials is essential.

Candidates must have knowledge in technical design, including relevant experience in conceptualization, creating expansive technical design packages, material innovation, blueprint and mold modifications, costing, and advanced prototyping.  Experience with pattern engineering and 3D design is also preferred. Candidates must have experience in leading trend summits, design reviews and other milestone meetings to sufficiently influence and impact their working teams.

Candidates must have skill in the ability to translate consumer insights and trends into product solutions; Shoe-making knowledge; Strong photoshop and illustrator skills; Ability to demonstrate needs to get results through collaboration with organizational partners; Utilizing excellent organizational, time management, and verbal and written communication skills.

Candidates may have to travel internationally.
