    The Role:

    The Welding Engineer is responsible for developing welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles.

    This position is located in Ogden, Utah.

    Responsibilities:

    • Prepare technical reports for Research & Development in addition to preventive maintenance investigations.
    • Design welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre- and post-heating requirements that involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex post-heating requirements.
    • Identify and communicate welding equipment needs and supports related to capital expenditures.
    • Evaluate new developments in the welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production processes.
    • Direct and coordinate technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure workers' compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards; in testing welds for conformance with national code requirements; or testing welding personnel for certification.
    • Contact engineering personnel to exchange ideas, information, or offer technical advice concerning welding matters.
    • Perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials.
    • Study engineering and technical publications to keep abreast of technological changes and developments in industry.

    Required Skills

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field is preferred.
    • 5+ years of experience welding or related experience is required.
    • Proven working experience working with Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code section IX, Welding and Brazing Qualifications, government welding specifications and AWS.
    • Proven working experience with manufacturing processes such as heavy equipment manufacturing, welding technology, systems and pressure vessels, materials technology and manufacturing methods technology.
    • Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code section IX, Welding and Brazing Qualifications, is preferred.
    • ASME Practical Welding Technology and Government Welding experience, is preferred.
    • Knowledge of various computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.
    • Proven working experience presenting data findings to the broader organization (employees, managers, and industry peers) while communicating the next best steps for the business.
    • Proven working experience tracking and collecting data.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Cultivate and convert sales across a span of national territories, focusing largely on Weeklong Tournament sales (among other products/business lines as needed)
    • Participate in sales planning and execution strategies, including but not limited to direct sales calls, appointments, networking, live events and webinars
    • Develop new customers from referrals, prospecting lists and prospecting calls
    • Work toward expanding organizational alliances which open new markets
    • Proactively work to understand customer preferences how customers experience our brand
    • Communicate effectively over the phone and in-person
    • Exhibit excellent organizational and record-keeping skills
    • Balance comfort in negotiating terms with prospective customers while keeping larger business considerations in mind
