Its about learning and growing Youre dedicated, and that means your time as much as your effort. This 10-week, 40hr/week internship offers exposure to real-world business. As a Spectrum Intern, youll be essential to two teams your respective department and your Intern peer group. Partner with other accomplished and dedicated interns on research and cross-functional projects. Youll have an opportunity contribute real value and meaning to the larger organization. Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. Youll spend the other 20% on professional development sessions and networking activities, including the Kickoff Conference on May 29 and 30, webinars, community service, and final presentations. As part of a peer community, youll contribute to cross-functional group projects, and should be ready to take on new projects as they come up. What you can expect in this role 1. Mini RFx Procurement will look to engage the intern in an RFx process where they have the opportunity shadow a Procurement Manager through requirements gathering, RFx issuance, negotiations, analysis and award. This will provide the intern a look into Charters procurement process, allowing them to think strategically throughout the process and provide them the opportunity to bring new ideas and perspective. 2. Supplier Contract Management- the Direct team is responsible for $3.5B spend. The following projects will include assessment/validation of supplier pricing and identify opportunities to recover expenditures not in alignment with our supplier agreements: a. Professional Services Time and Expense Audit for Cisco and Arris Network operations spends approximately $50M a year on professional services from its Network product suppliers. As part of our services agreement with those suppliers, we require them to abide by the terms of our T&E agreement that sets allowable T&E expenses. The Intern will perform and audit of a sample set of services related invoices and compare the rates to the T&E agreement to determine and report on compliance. If the sample audit results in material discrepancies, a more detailed audit will be performed for those suppliers. b. Estelle Database Improvements On an annual basis, Network Operations spends approximately $250M on maintenance and support. Estelle is a database that is used for tracking pertinent information for those maintenance and support renewals which includes installed base, maintenance costs, service levels, ticket information, software updates, return material authorization counts, etc. The Intern will be responsible for reviewing accuracy of the aforementioned data, assisting with validating installed base information as well as making any needed improvements to the database. c. Catalog Price Review On an annual basis, Charter purchases ~$1.4B in spend via catalog in Ariba. This will be an effort to ensure Charter is receiving accurate pricing for all items under contract and in the purchasing catalog. This opportunity will include finding additional save that has not been captured or where the wrong price was paid. 3. Supplier Information Management- a. SUM Validation Charter Procurement is tasked with a Spend Under Management (SUM) goal on a yearly basis. One of the intern responsibilities will include reviewing the SUM data for accuracy and validate that the data has been categorized properly. The intern will be asked to research items that have been identified as a miss-categorization, report their findings on this data, as well as streamline the process for review. Based on these findings, the intern will work with the appropriate Category Manager to address any contract needs. b. Master Supplier Index The direct team currently has a Supplier Assignment sheet that contains a list of suppliers and their corresponding category manager. The intern will be asked to further develop this list to include applicable supplier data, such as contact information, supplier escalation path, related contracts and the contract workspace number where they can be referenced.
