Sr. UX Designer, Design Systems - Abercrombie & Fitch (Remote)
THE OPPORTUNITY
At Abercrombie & Fitch, the UX Designer - Design System is responsible for contributing and evolving the design system for our experiences throughout the ecosystem for our global brands.
As part of A&F’s Digital Product Design & Research team, this highly visible and collaborative team member will translate design requests and patterns into design standards documented in the design system and corresponding tools or libraries.
Working with other designers, researchers, product managers, and developers, the UX Designer - Design System supports the design system from governance to implementation.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
Collaborating with cross-functional teams of designers, researchers, product managers, and developers to identify and extend design system functionality usability.
Engage throughout the design process to capture gap in knowledge or understanding of design system patterns, and accessibility standards.
Contribute and evolve design system resources for designers, including but not limited to design documentation, components, and tokens.
Use appropriate design system principles to influence and drive optimal design decisions and outcomes for our customers and associates that serve them.
Socialize design principles and standards with cross-functional teams and stakeholders with appropriate levels of fidelity and rationale.
Attend and participate in daily stand-up, grooming, planning, and sprint retrospective meetings. Actively engage in the design system governance process with cross functional stakeholders.
Actively participate and partner with peers and team leadership to evangelize and drive design system maturity across the team and company.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING?
Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or equivalent experience.
5+ years of digital product development, design system / style guide contribution or related work experience with corresponding portfolio.
Familiar in a variety of design and library tools such as Figma, Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Suite and expertise of digital technologies (e.g., web, Android, iOS, etc.)
Must have understanding of responsive web & native application design and strong proficiency with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS capabilities. Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) a plus.
Ability to build components and web content pages with Markdown, HTML and CSS. Experience with SASS a plus.
A strong understanding and experience working across multiple modern methods (Atomic Design, Design Thinking, Agile, Lean UX
Ability to work confidently in a highly-collaborative an iterative design process that includes giving, accepting, and responding to feedback and constructive critique
