CO-OP PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Retail Business Services offers an IT Co-op Program focused with the Product Design team and is targeted to current students and recent graduates. As part of this program, you’ll work collaboratively with the designers, product owners and engineers who support the grocery brands Retail Business Services serves, including Food Lion, The GIANT Company, Giant Food, Hannaford and Stop & Shop, to develop IT solutions for the next generation of grocery retail. Participants can expect to leverage human-centered design methods, such as research, personas, user flows, and visual design, to create new offerings and ways of doing business in the retail industry.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Are you passionate about design and understanding why people do what they do? Do you spend time figuring out how to improve the services, apps and websites you use? Then come and join our IT Product Design team at Retail Business Services, a proud company of Ahold Delhaize, a human-centered design practice in the middle of a big corporate office. We are looking for creative and curious problem solvers who are seeking to gain experience in a fast-paced environment alongside a multidisciplinary team.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with experienced designers, product managers and developers in an Agile environment
Conduct primary and secondary research to inform experience requirements
Design users flows, create lo-fi, mid-fi, and hi-fi concepts all while maintaining the business requirements
Present designs/process to team leads and business contacts for feedback
Participate in Scrum Ceremonies
Provide design elements, style guides, comps, templates, and finished solutions
Provide feedback during sessions to help other designers on the team
Assist in Design Thinking workshop facilitation
QUALIFICATIONS
Keen understanding of human-centered design methods and a passion for teaching others the benefits
Experience conducting end user research, analyzing and synthesizing the data to create and present insights
Demonstrated ability to apply research and insights into understanding end user needs, desires, pains, and opportunities
Experience with information architecture and interaction design
Strong ability to design experiences or applications with focus on usefulness, usability, visual design, content, and end-to-end user journey
Ability to wireframe and prototype working demo solutions quickly
Ability to validate and refine experiences and prototypes based on feedback from users with UI/UX Designers
Strong communication skills, written and verbal
Prior experience using design tools at (at least 1 year) (Adobe Suite, Sketch / Figma, etc.)
Online portfolio is a must
Experience with moderated usability testing a plus
