  • Responsibilities

    Camp Counselors are responsible for general supervision of all campers in their assigned group, as well as the overall safety and support of all children attending camp. Activity planning and facilitating are among other key responsibilities. Counselors are expected to participate in at least 3-4 sessions of pre-camp training, as well as these daily responsibilities while camp is in session:

    • Identify and respond to camper behavior issues
    • Work to reduce conflict among campers, create a team-friendly environment with positivity.
    • Demonstrate organizational skills: lesson planning, timelines, meet deadlines, following schedules and set goals.
    • Plan and execute the activities in coordination with the program staff and supervisors
    • Attend staff outings to take a break and enjoy time with coworkers
  • Qualifications

    Our ideal candidate would meet some or all of the following qualifications:

    • Complete a physical exam and TB within one year of the camp dates
    • Pass NYS and national background checks
    • Possess CPR, First Aid and AED certification
    • Possess 2+ years of experience working with campers required; experience leading recreation programs/activities with groups of varying sizes
    • Be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, participants, parents and caregivers
    • Be able to communicate effectively and in a timely fashion with participants, families and caregivers, both verbally and non-verbally
    • Be able to solve practical problems in a variety of situations. Ability to interpret and understand instructions, both written and oral
