  • Responsibilities

    Make a positive impact on the lives of New York City children and join us in our mission to encourage youth development through sports, movement and play! Here at KinG, we are always looking for passionate professionals who are interested in joining our cause.

    • Attend beginning and end of week division meetings to go over schedules, activities and what can go better for next week.
    • Check in with division leader every morning on attendance in your group.
    • Assist with drop off by helping to lead the children to their classrooms.
    • When children are dropped off in your room make sure all of their belongings make it to their cubby. Lunches should be taken out and put in bins. Sunscreen should be applied at this time. Make sure water bottles are filled and snacks are out of lunch bags.
    • Bring lunches down to refrigerators during morning rally time.
    • Instruct your groups during transition time and make sure buddy system and head counts are happening.
    • Each morning before rally time go over group rules and safety. Go over the plan for the day with kids.
    • On field trip days, go over safety rules for subway and trip with your group. Create groups of five for the trips. Distribute camp bracelets to all campers and Make sure they are out on.
    • On field trip days, make sure all snacks, lunches and water bottles are brought with your group. Medical bags should be restocked as well.
    • Every morning restock medical bags if needed.
    • Go over any camper medical issues with your division leader
    • Run Team Time KING games with your co counselor during that time on the schedule. Have a weekly plan for these.
    • Participate in special theme week days.
    • Help specialists with your group during their activity times.
    • On swim days make sure campers have bathing suits, change of clothes, towels and goggles if needed.
    • Help with behavioral issues within your group.
    • End of day clean rooms and organize for the next day
    • Help with pickup time.
  • Qualifications
    • Amazing with kids!
    • DOE or DOH fingerprinted is a plus Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
    • Pass a NY State run background check CPR, First Aid and AED certified is a plus
    • 2+ years of experience working with campers required; experience leading recreation programs/activities; experience leading groups of varying sizes
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, participants, parents and caregivers Ability to communicate effectively and in a timely fashion with participants, families and caregivers, both verbally and non-verbally
    • Ability to solve practical problems in a variety of situations.
    • Ability to interpret and understand instructions, both written and oral
