ALC Eikaiwa Skype (AE Skype) is an online English language school for Japanese students. Teachers around the world participate from their homes via Skype.
We are specifically looking for Japanese speakers. Currently Japanese speaking teachers who can also speak basic English are in high demand.
Lyngo, LLC and ALC Press, Inc. have been working together for several years on projects that bring online classes to students all over Japan. AE Skype is just one of many educational programs offered by ALC Press. ALC is also the largest publisher of EFL/ESL books and material here in Japan. AE Skype is Lyngo’s newest collaboration with ALC. Lyngo participates in the program on behalf of ALC, handling recruitment and management of staff.
Teaching AE Skype is easy. All lessons are taught online from home using Skype. There are a few requirements:
Webcam and USB headset with mic (no earbuds).
Computer able to run Skype.
Fast, stable Internet service with an Ethernet cable to connect directly to the modem (no wireless).
Availability to teach a minimum of 8 lessons (25 minutes each) per week.
A quiet place to teach where you will not be disturbed.
Each 1-to-1 class is 25 minutes long. Classes are conducted online via Skype from the comfort of your home. They’re offered every day around the clock, though there is very little call for lessons during the pre-dawn hours in Japan. Classes start at the top of the hour and half past.
The majority of our lessons fall between 8:00pm and midnight Japanese Standard Time. Preference for candidates available from 8:00pm to midnight (JST) and especially those willing to work weekends.
Exceptions may be made depending on our current needs, along with the candidate’s overall availability and experience, but special consideration is certainly given to those who can work evenings (8:00 to midnight JST, any day) and especially weekends (throughout the day and evening, JST).
There are several types of classes. Initially, the classes that you will be teaching the most are ‘daily conversation’ classes and ‘business conversation’ classes. Class levels are set as either basic or advanced. Further details will be provided prior to training.
