  • Responsibilities

    Timeline & Commitment: Choice to either begin ASAP or intern over the summer.

    ASAP: commit to at least 4 months part-time, 10-20 hours a week.

    Summer: commit to 8-10 weeks full-time, min 35 hours a week. You’ll work from our office, at Columbia StartUp Labs, WeWork Soho, 69 Charlton Street.

    Visual curation:

    • Allocate front and inner page images for our orgs pages.

    • Curate images to be featured on visit.org home page and promotional materials.

    • Curate user-submitted images.

    Visual acquisition, using the following sources:

    • You! Your visual portfolio is amazing and we would love to feature it when appropriate.

    • Directly from orgs (done in collaboration with visit.org’s Country Leaders).

    • From travelers, photographers, other publishers. Acquire rights and permissions.

    • From the web when it’s CC licensed (permission to use for any purpose).

    • Buy from stocks.

    Visual management:

    • Manage visit.org’s image bank

    • Create documentation mechanism for image bank

    • Build a buzz and a high-quality network of travelers-photographers

  • Qualifications

    The right candidate:

    • Is super passionate about storytelling through visuals: photography, videos, graphics, and anything visual

    • Has experience creating written and visual content for websites and social media

    • Is independent, takes initiative, constantly comes up with new exciting visual ideas

    • Understands and has a strong desire to work in a startup environment

    • Excited to work with nonprofits and community-based tourism projects (“orgs”) from around the world

    We offer a modest monthly stipend. You will gain experience in travel and tech marketing, writing, and operations of a startup while making a positive impact on communities around the world. Work can be done remotely or at our offices in a great co-working space in Soho, NYC.
