    The Opportunity

    Do you have a passion for building tools, managing complex systems, and solving problems at scale? Adobe Design is seeking a Spectrum Web Engineering Intern to join our Design Engineering team. This opportunity will involve expanding the in-house platforms and tools that support the Spectrum design system through delivery of design resources and documentation. Beyond the required software development tasks, this role will include exposure to project planning, UI framework and data platform development, functional and visual testing, build and deploy operations, and system documentation. You will play a key role in ensuring our systems are available for consumers in a timely, stable, and scalable way.

    All 2024 Adobe interns will be ‘co-located hybrid. This means that interns will be assigned to an Adobe office location, but in-office schedules will be flexible and determined by team. All interns must live in the same state, country, and within commuting distance of their assigned Adobe office so they can be on-site as needed.

    What You’ll Do

    • Collaborate with Spectrum’s designers and platform engineers to deliver a project based on web stack tools.
    • Work with your leadership and team to understand requirements, architect and deliver a solution
    • Create documentation for both users and maintainers.
    • Help develop a plan for future growth of your solution.
    • Learn about Spectrum Design Engineering’s wider ecosystem.

    What You Need to Succeed

    Must have:

    • Currently enrolled full time and pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Internet and Web Application Development; or equivalent degree required
    • Experience with web stack (HTML/CSS/JS) application development, ideally including exposure to TypeScript based development using typical software design practices.
    • Experience with git and GitHub, using branch based development, and process of performing peer code reviews.
    • Experience with basic project setup, build, testing, and deployment processes, ideally using tools from the Node.js and npm ecosystem.
    • Good communication skills, particularly the ability to work effectively with individuals from non-technical backgrounds, fostering collaboration and understanding across diverse teams
    • A pragmatic, collaborative and open-minded outlook, and a high degree of comfort working in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to participate in a full-time internship between May-September

    Nice to have:

    • Familiarity with the concepts behind design systems and how they are being applied in modern product development.
    • Familiarity with RDBMS and No-SQL database systems, common server and middleware platforms, basic principles of CMS based solutions.
    • Experience in deployment, management, and optimization of Amazon Web Services, specifically S3, CloudFront, etc.
    • Familiarity with Docker OS-level virtualization, including containerization, orchestration, and management of applications within Docker environments.
    • Practice working closely with designers, including a strong understanding of how to convert a design into code

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this positionis $45.00 -- $55.00 hourly. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay rate for your job location during the hiring process.
