    JOB DESCRIPTION

    We are seeking undergraduate-level Cybersecurity intern. As an intern, you will take on meaningful work, engage in out-of-the-box problem solving, and participate in global case challenges and impactful initiatives. You will get the chance to work with multiple teams, systems, and products through a wide variety of data sources. From technology to business, we are looking for people who can innovate, collaborate and bring Visa to the next level of a rapidly evolving digital marketplace. During the internship, you will work on one or more hands-on projects with the team. Our summer internship also equips you with social and professional networking events and developmental workshops, designed to provide you the resources and training to have an impactful summer.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist the Cybersecurity Detection engineering teams with special projects as assigned including, but not limited to, threat hunting, log analytics, web application security, database etc.

    • Develop and maintain new and/or existing code and rules, API integrations or specialized utility programs.

    • Maintain knowledgebase and document operating procedures for security processes.

    • Work on establishing mature cyber threat detection processes by implementing SDLC practices for threat hunting.

    • Support any of WAF/SIEM/DAM/Endpoint teams in building new techniques and processing cyber threat intelligence to add to the knowledgebase.

    SOME EXAMPLES OF PREVIOUS SUMMER INTERN PROJECTS:

    • Design, enhance, and build Application Security Tools and Services Support Product
    • development teams in writing secure code free of Application security vulnerabilities
    • Security Use cases and develop code to execute multi-step security procedures

    FLEX WORK ARRANGEMENT - HYBRID POSITION

    • This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, CIS/MIS, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Business or a related field, graduating December 2023 or later
    • Strong communications skills, specifically, the absence of repeated grammatical or typographical errors, clear and concise written and spoken communications, and communications that demonstrate professional judgment.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Understanding of OWASP Top 10 and SANS Top 25 web application and network vulnerabilities
    • Understanding of cryptographic concepts and applied cryptography (SSL, AES, etc.)
    • Understanding and experience in using CVSSv3.0/3.1
    • Proficiency in one or more scripting language - Perl, Python, Shell Scripting, etc.
    • Proficiency in one or more high level programming languages like Java, C, C++, Ruby, etc.
    • Expertise and experience in web application or API penetration testing is a plus
    • Understanding of OSI and TCP stack with emphasis on computer architecture and networking protocols
    • Knowledge of web application technologies and layer 7 protocols like HTTP, DHCP, DNS, FTP, etc.
    • Good understanding of networking concepts around Ethernet, switched LAN and WAN environment
    • Familiarity with security tools & frameworks like Burp Suite Professional, Nmap, Nessus, Kali is a plus
    • Solid understanding of software engineering concepts and methodologies
    • Document process, designs, test results, and analysis
    • Lead root cause analysis and track defect resolution to completion
    • Review and provide feedback on development code, test designs and test cases
    • The ability to take on challenges and address problems head-on
    • Strong ability to collaborate
    • Highly driven, resourceful and results oriented
    • Good team player and excellent interpersonal skills
    • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and navigate through ambiguity

    U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $25/hr to $30/hr USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.     This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
