JOB DESCRIPTION
Visa's USGE team is headquartered in Washington D.C. with colleagues in California and Colorado. We are a highly dedicated team comprised of driven professionals, who are passionate about Federal, State, and International policy!
The selected candidate will play an integral role, tackling many critical tasks such as coordinating the development of government engagement briefing materials for senior executives, helping to support major education and advocacy events, and attending and reporting on meaningful events in the DC area.
The position will also work closely with our State and Local team to help drive Visa advocacy efforts throughout state capitals across the country, on a range of state-focused projects and initiatives.
This role offers a tremendous opportunity over a 3-month period to develop critical business skills such as effective relationship building, communications, planning, and execution while gaining exposure to the U.S. political landscape.
Provide coverage of hearings on Capitol Hill and other policy-related developments in Washington
Conduct proprietary research to support Visa’s legislative and advocacy agenda
Coordinate events, logistics, and meetings to showcase Visa’s technology leadership in Washington
Write content for internal monthly publications, providing updates on key policy developments and government affairs
Deliver wide-ranging support to Government Engagement and Communications teams
Actively engage with key trade associations to further build our strategic partnerships
Support process improvement initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS
Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, public affairs, government, or related field
Graduating in December 2023 or later
Works efficiently in both office and virtual environments with standard business hours (M-F, 9am-6pm)
Able to synthesize information and communicate effectively to a variety of audiences
Self-starter who achieves results through the ability to effectively partner, prioritize and tight project timelines handle competing priorities with resiliency
Strong critical thinking and a high level of intellectual curiosity
Able to present sophisticated ideas in a clear & concise manner
Experience using standard MS Office tools (e.g., MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, etc.).
U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $21/hr to $26/hr USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.

WORK HOURS: Varies upon the needs of the department.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires travel 15-20% of the time.
MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
