    Introduction

    As an IBM Quantum Sales Intern, you will gain exposure to quantum computing, enterprise sales, business development, and client engagement while supporting strategic initiatives across the IBM Quantum business. You will learn about IBM Quantum technologies, the quantum computing ecosystem, and how emerging technologies are brought to market through client engagements, strategic partnerships, and enterprise sales. This role is ideal for students who combine strong communication and business skills with the ability to quickly understand technical concepts and communicate their business value.

    Your role and responsibilities

    The IBM Quantum Sales Intern will support the identification, qualification, advancement, and execution of new quantum computing opportunities across the IBM Quantum business. In this role, you will gain hands-on exposure to IBM Quantum technologies, the quantum computing ecosystem, and the enterprise sales lifecycle while working alongside IBM Quantum sales and business leaders. You will contribute to business development, client engagement, sales operations, and strategic initiatives that help organizations understand, evaluate, and adopt quantum computing solutions. This position is ideal for students who combine strong communication and business skills with technical aptitude, intellectual curiosity, and an interest in emerging technologies and their real-world business applications.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Support business development activities through account research, stakeholder identification, client outreach, and follow-up activities.
    • Develop industry-specific presentations, executive briefings, and client-facing sales materials that communicate the value of IBM Quantum technologies.
    • Coordinate and support client meetings, workshops, executive briefings, and events, both virtual and in person.
    • Conduct market, industry, and competitive research to identify opportunities for quantum computing adoption across key industries.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across IBM, including IBM Quantum, Finance, Legal, Contracts, Tax, Export, and IBM client teams, to support client engagements and sales opportunities.
    • Assist in the preparation of proposals, pricing materials, contracts, and other client deliverables.
    • Create and maintain Salesforce reports, dashboards, and pipeline analytics to support opportunity management, forecasting, and business planning.
    • Analyze business and sales data to identify trends, develop insights, and support strategic decision-making.
    • Support strategic initiatives, partnership development, and special projects across the IBM Quantum business.

    Required technical and professional expertise

    • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Strong relationship-building skills and confidence engaging with clients, partners, and IBM stakeholders.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
    • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Ability to combine technical aptitude with business acumen to understand client challenges and articulate business value.
    • Demonstrated initiative, ownership, and follow-through, with the ability to work independently and drive tasks to completion.
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
    • Ability to quickly learn new technologies, industry trends, and business concepts.

    Preferred technical and professional experience

    • Interest in quantum computing, emerging technologies, and their business applications.
    • Interest in enterprise sales, business development, client engagement, and strategic partnerships.
    • Experience developing presentations and communicating ideas through effective storytelling and visual content.
    • Experience creating reports, dashboards, and business insights using Salesforce reporting tools, Excel, or similar analytics platforms.
    • Experience with customer-facing presentations, public speaking, leadership activities, or sales-related programs.
    • Experience conducting market research, competitive analysis, or business analytics projects.
    • Knowledge of quantum computing concepts, IBM Quantum technologies, and Qiskit.
