    Network Processing: This is the team behind VisaNet, the payments network that connects consumers and merchants with financial institutions. The team strives to maintain quality through high-availability and high volume to enable industry collaboration and innovation today and tomorrow.

    Job Description & Project Summary

    As a Software Engineering Intern, you will be at the forefront in building the next generation of systems that provide connectivity and access into Visa. The access systems are fundamental to the Visa Business and amongst only a handful of the most mission critical systems at Visa.

    Some things you might work on as Software Engineering intern are:

    • Implementation of one or more phases of software development lifecycle: Build & Code, Test, Security, and Deployment.
    • Code software solutions and enhancements for applications providing access into VisaNet
    • Develop tools for automation of routine tasks using industry standard programming and scripting languages such as C++, Java, Python, Unix Shell Scripting etc.
    • Create unit and system test cases using industry standard test frameworks such as Junit and Cucumber
    • Begin to learn best and secure coding practices and standards
    • Gain understanding of Object Oriented Analysis & Design (OOAD) and nuances of multi-threaded programming
    • Gain understanding of various industry standard open source frameworks, web services and RESTful apI
  • Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field**, graduating December 2021 or later**
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 (or equivalent scale)
    • Strong communications skills, specifically, the absence of repeated grammatical or typographical errors, clear and concise written and spoken communications, and communications that demonstrate professional judgment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in design and implementation using Java programming language
    • Experience in Object Oriented Analysis and Design
    • Sound knowledge of Unix/Linux OS and system calls
    • Understanding of multi-threaded application development nuances
    • Familiarity with database concepts
    • The ability to take on challenges and address problems head-on
    • Strong ability to collaborate
    • Highly driven, resourceful and results oriented
    • Good team player and excellent interpersonal skills
    • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and navigate through ambiguity

    Additional Information

    *Our Visa internship programs occurs during the summer months only.

    Work Hours:

    • This position requires the incumbent to be available during core business hours.

    Travel Requirements:

    • This position requires the incumbent to travel for work less than 10% of the time.

    Physical Requirements: ​​​​​​

    • This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
