    WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT IN THIS ROLE

    As a Spectrum Intern, you'll be essential to two teams - your respective department and your Intern peer group. Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You'll spend the other 20% on professional development sessions and networking activities, including the Kickoff Conference on June 2, webinars, community service, cross-functional project, and final presentations.

    Internship responsibilities may include

    Next generation content, applications, media (CAM) continue to form Charter's future product strategies and offerings. The introduction of new methodologies for product development requires experience in agile development and a keen understanding of how to successfully integrate next generation media services.

    The primary role comprises responsibilities in solution implementation, certification, integration, and testing of next generation VOD, Media Distribution, Content Delivery within Charter's Corporate Video Lab environments. This Video Software tester will work with Video Engineering, Software Development, Product and Test teams to support environment builds, implementations, QA testing and operate IPVOD, CDN and Media Distribution Solutions within Charter Corporate Labs.

    Required qualifications

    • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited College or University completing a Bachelor's Degree
    • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current program
    • Ability to travel locally to Spectrum Intern development events and activities throughout the program
    • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship
  • Desired skills
    • Operator level experience with Linux with the ability to perform application configuration and administration.
    • Experience with CLI, Unix shells (bash, csh, other), shell scripting, various OS level daemon services
    • Understanding of IPv4 and IPv6 networking.
    • Understanding of system engineering practice.
    • Knowledge of network service protocols including - but not limited to - DNS, HTTP, Media streaming technologies.
    • Knowledge on distribution media delivery models (e.g. CDN) and associated media delivery streaming technologies.
    • Knowledge of streaming media protocols (e.g. HLS, HSS, DASH).
    • Willingness to gain experience of video encoding, transcoding, translate, and decode.
    • Willingness to learn Video on Demand, Electronic Program Guides, Metadata Management
    • Willingness to gain knowledge of distributed cloud and storage architectures (e.g. VMWare, OpenStack).
    • Ability to analyze and interpret data.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal.
