WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT IN THIS ROLE
As a Spectrum Intern, you'll be essential to two teams - your respective department and your Intern peer group. Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You'll spend the other 20% on professional development sessions and networking activities, including the Kickoff Conference on June 1, webinars, community service, cross-functional project, and final presentations.
Internship responsibilities may include
- Works within the Business Intelligence department within the Reporting Services group.
- This team is responsible for the reporting platform (MicroStrategy/Tableau) and associated standards reports must meet (design and performance).
- Role is to improve the documentation of internal processes and improve user-facing documentation to increase adoption of new/advanced platform features and reduce the reliance on community knowledge.
- Interview and elicit process and software feature/functionality from existing experts.
- Document existing internal platform administration and support processes
- Document existing and upcoming software features and functionality, primarily of the MicroStrategy BI platform.
- Create end-user training and how-to material to instruct users of the reporting platform how to be on-boarded, use the system.
- Create and/or edit training videos (recorded conference calls) to trim them for long-term training reference.
- Create templates for internal wiki pages, word documents, and PowerPoint to ensure consistency.
HERE'S WHAT IT TAKES TO GET STARTED
Required qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited College or University completing a Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Degree
- Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current program
- Ability to travel locally to Spectrum Intern development events and activities throughout the program
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship
Preferred qualifications
- Strong command of English language and ability to clearly document/convey instruction.
- General familiarity with the role of databases, web technology, and general IT technical terms.
- Familiarity with business process definition and documenting workflows (step-by-step systems or process documentation).
- Passion for page design: fonts, layout, color, readability, impactful media.
- Preferred: experience editing videos, experience creating custom graphics, experience with BPMN, motion design, experience with SQL, experience with BI tools (Tableau, Data Studio, PowerBI, MicroStrategy), experience with data prep/wrangling tools.
