CommScope is looking for a Microwave & Satellite Engineer I. This would be a remote opportunity and our ideal candidate would be based around Northern Virginia/ Washington DC area.

How You'll Help Us Connect The World

As a member of the microwave and satellite engineering group, this role will be a part of a team which is focused on microwave interference analyses, microwave network design, RF measurements, and RF safety. You will perform RF interference analyses and FCC licensing for both terrestrial microwave & satellite earth station systems, as well as compile technical reports for delivery to Comsearch customers. We would look to you to occasionally perform field measurements or surveys to collect relevant site or path data. You will work collaboratively with other engineers, technical assistants, and project managers. This includes:

• Using proprietary analytic software for microwave & satellite earth station frequency selection, prior coordination, and FCC licensing
• Preliminary microwave path design using in-house and commercially available software.
• Conduct path surveys in the field to verify line-of-sight objectives. Preparing technical reports using field collected path and site survey data. Extensive use of MS Word and MS Excel for data collection, report generation, and analytics
• Setup of test equipment for LOS path survey data collection or interference fixes
• Serve as liaison between clients and internal engineering staff

Required Qualifications for Consideration

• Completed Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 0-3 years of experience
• Ability to travel approximately 15% of the time and function autonomously when on the field.
• A successful incumbent for this position must consistently exhibit good customer service skills orally and in writing. This includes meeting project commitments, good organization, clear communication and being adaptable to client requests. Ability to multitask
• Proficiency in MS Office.

You Will Excite Us If You Have:

• Familiarity with wireless communication theory, specifically LOS point to point and Earth station/satellite systems
• Working knowledge of
  • Electromagnetic theory
  • Microwave propagation
  • Experience with geographic coordinate systems and map datums
  • RF propagation
  • Wireless technologies such as LTE, mMIMO, beamforming
