The Puppet Automation team is looking for a summer intern to help coordinate, manage, and deploy a code base migration for our Puppet agent upgrade. The role will also assist in server health checks, remediation, module upgrades, and automation. The Puppet automation team manages thousands of Windows, Redhat, AIX, and SUSE servers by providing tools, enforcement, compliance, scripting, dashboarding, automated builds, and patching support. Our team also leverages Service Now workflows for automated Linux patching and will be onboarding Windows patching support in 2023.
This is a hybrid role with an expected 60% in office and 40% remote located in the Canyon Point Campus (Bothell, WA. 15 miles from Seattle/Bellevue). Relocation, including summer housing, may be available for qualified candidates.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Manage 40,000+ physical and virtual servers in private cloud datacenters
Development and maintain Service Now workflows and Puppet tasks for Linux and Windows OS patching
Utilize Infrastructure as Code for server build processes using a variety of middleware deployment strategies
Maintain and deploy code using internal tooling for automation, agents, security, and updates
Troubleshoot operating system/agent issues related to: package management, file systems, drive/storage, registry, active directory, group policy, and configuration management
Leverage databases from several technologies to generate accurate reports and dashboards for troubleshooting and health checks
Gather, evaluate, and develop with internal and external customers on projects
Generate technical documentation and commented code within team standards
Attend and present in cross collaboration meetings of research projects, findings, and concerns
Have a security focused mindset for all projects
Research, develop, and deploy proof of concept technology projects for forward thinking business and team needs
Upgrade and maintain internal team tooling including agents, platforms, patching OS, physical server build/migration
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must be located in or willing to relocate to Bellevue, WA or Overland Park, KS.
Must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program pursuing a degree in Computer Science, IT, Application Development, or a related field and graduating after 2023.
Knowledge or interest in Puppet or Service Now
Proficient in object-orientated programming such as Java, C#, preferred - Ruby, Javascript, Bash, Powershell
Basic knowledge of one or more operating systems: Redhat, Windows, AIX, Suse
Knowledge or interest in: Git, VSCode, Jenkins, Yum/RPM, Chocolatey, Hypervisors (VRA)
Proficient in MS Office products - excel, word, powerpoint, outlook
Fast learner and desire to learn quickly
Self-motivated and desire to solve problems
Average pay range for summer internships is $22-$28/hour. Wage will be determined based on experience level.
