What It's Like
A Geospatial Analyst intern will contribute to the team by gathering, reporting, and developing geographic information systems (GIS) data. This position will apply standard and emerging GIS tools (including but not limited to Alteryx, H3, Apache Sedona, PostgreSQL, Databricks) to provide intelligence analysis, research, risk assessments, and predictive analysis. This person has a passion for spatially driven analysis and will assist the team innovate and complete target nominations by testing and documenting new analytical tools and using developed tools to effectively visualize outputs.
What You'll Do
As a Geospatial Analyst intern, you will have the opportunity to address Availability Challenges from the FCC and State Governments, showcasing your dedication to contributing to critical initiatives. You'll play a key role in crafting an Internal Geocoder, a pivotal component in our geospatial infrastructure. Additionally, you'll be instrumental in establishing a Geospatial Analytics environment within Databricks, providing a unique opportunity to engage with innovative technologies. You'll find yourself working on a diverse range of projects spanning from Customer Acquisition to optimizing the Existing Customer Experience. This variety ensures a dynamic internship experience, allowing you to explore different aspects of geospatial analytics within a professional setting. In addition to structured projects, you'll engage in Ad-Hoc Analysis and Dashboarding as needed, offering you a chance to apply your skills to real-time challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Support in building responses from inquiries from Federal and State governments.
Involvement in high priority enterprise projects to improve HSI customer acquisition and customer experience.
Development of Geospatial Analytics suite within Databricks.
Ad-Hoc eligibility and driven analyses and accompanying visualization as needed by the business and internal partners.
What It Takes
Currently enrolled and pursuing Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or Geographic Information Systems at 4-year college/university.
Experience with Python, SQL
Experience with Scala or Spark/PySpark
Familiar with Databricks, Alteryx, ArcGIS/QGIS, Tableau
Minimum Qualifications
At least 18 years of age
Legally authorized to work in the United States
High School Diploma or GED
Must be actively enrolled in a degree program or graduated within the last year
Employees of T-Mobile or Metro by T-Mobile are ineligible for Internships
Employer does not sponsor work visas for this position. Note that this also applies to individuals who are students in F-1 status who desire sponsorship after they complete their education
Relocation reimbursement may be provided to program participants who reside more than 50 miles from the internship location
Intern wages range from $20/hour to $40/hour. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on experience/location
