    THE PROGRAM

    The 2023 Network Operations Intern Program is open for dedicated and hardworking students. The goal of the Network Operations Intern Program is to provide current students with exposure to a real-life network operation setting, while giving them the opportunity to learn about our industry. Spectrum provides an atmosphere that is intended to broaden an entry level candidate’s professional understanding while promoting self-confidence, accomplishment, and career development.

    The program is 10 weeks in length and will run from: JUNE 5TH, 2023, THROUGH AUGUST 11TH, 2023.

    JOB SCOPE

    Responsible for assisting design, development, and implementation of enterprise-wide Network automation and analytical applications. This position has a great opportunity to be involved in developing new solutions, and modifying existing ones to increase efficiency.     DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop automated workflows using python

    • Maintain a containerized work environment i.e Kubernetes & Docker

    • Installs, administers, configures and maintains OSS applications including both virtual and on prem solutions

    • Works with Postgres SQL to generate reports or create visualizations as needed

    • Monitors and assists in managing applications, device availability, network conditions and system reliability and performance, service and program maintenance and storage resources

    • Reviews existing integration capabilities, data sources, and proposed solution designs for feasibility, cost and functionality

    • Deploying new switches, router and taps on current architecture

    BASIC / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university

      • BACHELORS: Sophomore and above

      • MASTER’S: Any Level

      • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required

    • Working familiarity with Python or similar language

    • Working familiarity with SQL-like databases (Postgres primarily)

    ADDITIONAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    • Working familiarity with containerized solutions, vCenter, as well as data analytics

    • Ability to follow and implement established change and control policies and procedures, and the ability to troubleshoot application problems

    • UNIX/LINUX knowledge

    • Must be able to write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straightforward, and professional manner. 

    • A general working understanding of infrastructure technologies and concepts

    • Experience in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology

    • Demonstrated knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio

    • Recommends changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determines hardware or software

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Industry Standard Certifications

    • Network automation experience

    • MS Office Suites (Excel, Visio, Power Point, Word)
