Sky Caps have a variety of responsibilities including, but not limited to, receiving luggage, sporting equipment, and wheelchairs, strollers, etc. from customers who wish to check these items. Sky Caps provide a high level of customer service while tagging their bags and verbally providing information, directions and flight information to passengers. Sky Caps follow company policy to check travel and identification documents by reviewing the customers information to determine destination, flight number, date of departure, documents needed, etc. which requires awareness of security requirements for all passenger types. Sky Caps verify that luggage and other checked items meet weight requirements and determine, communicate and collect all applicable fees such as additional or overweight charges while tagging and identifying heavy bags accordingly. Following established company procedures, Sky Caps ensure that checked bags/items are routed to the proper destination(s). Sky Caps provide assistance to passengers by assisting the public in a helpful, courteous and professional manner. In this role, Sky Caps must be able to perform all duties under sometimes stressful conditions beyond the employee's control while attempting to influence a favorable impression of the Company. Must be able to report to work on a regular and timely basis and work in all types of inclement weather. Job Requirements In this role the candidates must be able to perform all duties under sometimes stressful conditions beyond the employee's control while attempting to influence a favorable impression of American Eagle, American Airlines or any other contracted airline service provided by Envoy. Must be able to work with minimal supervision, report to work regularly and on-time, and be self-motivated. Position Requirements Minimum Age 18 High school diploma or GED equivalent Must be able to carry, bend, lift, and turn with bags, parcels and other heavy items weighing up to 75 lbs. Ability to bend, stoop, push and/or pull and maneuver baggage carts weighing in excess of 100 lbs. Candidates must be able to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language Must possess the legal right to work in the United States Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays Must be able to report to work on a regular and timely basis and be able to complete all work-related tasks during various kinds of inclement weather This position is not eligible for healthcare benefits or company travel privileges. Position Preferences One year of customer service experience Ability to read, write, fluently speak, and understand Spanish (in some locations) Additional Position Details Tattoos, body piercings and/or tongue rings may not be visible while in company issued uniform at any time; tattoos cannot be covered with adhesive bandages or by other methods to render them not visible. Candidates must fulfill a fingerprint based criminal background check to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA), if applicable. Candidates must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, in addition to clearing other airport related requirements, if applicable. This position may be subject to the Department of Transportation (DOT). Federal law requires Envoy to determine a candidates history with the DOT drug and/or alcohol violation(s) or refusal(s) to test before hiring him/her into a safety-sensitive position.
