The Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS) teams mission is to manage and effectively mitigate fatigue in line operations by evaluation of reported and potential contributing factors and achieving corrective action through analysis of risk, education, validation of programs, and measuring system performance. The FRMS team is responsible for managing the pilot fatigue removal program; fatigue education for all applicable AA employees; the FAA approved alternative method of compliance projects for FAR Part 117; and fatigue research studies in line operations. The team is also responsible for representing and leading industry initiatives on these topics. The internship program will focus on projects and process studies for the Operations Safety department to assist in fatigue risk management and fatigue safety assurance functions while enhancing Company policy and FAR compliance. - Fatigue education of pilots and persons responsible for scheduling of pilots - Analysis of pilot fatigue reporting events and identifying trends - Implementation of operational risk management strategies to ensure that pilots are alert and fit for duty - Assist FRMS team in coordination with management and labor unions on analysis of fatigue reports - Management of sleep study duties and data - Ensuring timely delivery of sleep study tools to crew members - Administration of database containing fatigue related crew and schedule data Job Qualifications - Actively pursuing Bachelor's or Masters degree in Aviation Safety, Management, or related field of study - Excellent oral and written communications skills required - A general understanding of commercial aviation is required - Working knowledge of the FARs, human factors and system safety is desired - Experience with all components of Microsoft Office is required
