The wheeled vehicle mechanic is primarily responsible for supervising and performing maintenance and recovery operations on wheeled vehicles and associated items. Maintaining wheeled vehicles, associated trailers and material handling equipment systems. Inspecting, servicing, maintaining, repairing, replacing, adjusting and testing of wheeled vehicles and material handling equipment systems, subsystems and components. Servicing automotive electrical systems including wiring harness, and starting and charging systems. Performing wheeled vehicle recovery operations.1. Responsible for more technical repair and maintenance of automobiles, trucks, and trailers.2. Troubleshoots, orders parts, and repairs difficult mechanical problems. 3. Ability to perform general automotive maintenance and repair tasks.4. May require specific certifications, depending on job assignment.5. Knowledge of relevant tools and equipment.6. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.7. Participates in special projects as required. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.Adheres to ethical, behavioral and professional standards. Education Associates Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, factory-sponsored training or work experience. 1-3 years of related automotive maintenance and repair experience. Qualifications Two years recent experience as an Army wheeled vehicle mechanic, with one year having served within unit-level operations or civilian equivalent. Unique/Additional Requirements: Must have a valid drivers license/CDL. Effective communications skills. Computer literate with current Microsoft Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office Systems and possess a working knowledge of current Army automated supply systems.
