    Job Description

    This role is responsible for leading and supporting cost reduction initiatives across vehicle systems and components, ensuring that material cost savings are achieved without compromising quality or customer experience. The position involves benchmarking, idea generation, feasibility studies, cross-regional collaboration, and management of tools and processes that drive value optimization.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Cost Reduction & Tracking
    * Identify, benchmark, budget, and track cost reduction activities and projects to meet technical cost reduction targets.
    
    * Present regional results and break down by subsystem.
    
    * Generate cost-reduction ideas, evaluate engineering feasibility, and benchmark for alignment.
    
    • Collaboration & Benchmarking
    * Collaborate with global counterparts to maximize cross-regional cost-reduction opportunities.
    
    * Lead benchmarking and standardization activities across Metafunctions (e.g., A2MAC reviews, part/system reviews).
    
    * Support Metafunction Teams on Design-to-Cost and benchmarking activities.
    
    * Engage suppliers and stakeholders in value optimization activities.
    
    * Support vehicle teardown/hoist reviews for benchmarking insights.
    
    • Idea Generation & Evaluation
    * Coordinate and lead idea generation activities (supplier, engineering submissions, workshops).
    
    * Lead initial evaluation and disposition of new ideas, including engineering feasibility and competitive benchmarking.
    
    • Initiatives, Budget & Tools
    * Provide budget requirements for approval and manage VO tools across regions.
    
    * Establish common methods, processes, and tools for VO activities.
    
    * Manage KPIs (status vs. target charts) to track performance.
    
    * Ensure compliance with internal control system rules.
    
    * Guarantee that VO-driven changes meet performance standards through system-level validation.
    
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Manufacturing (ABET-accredited) or equivalent experience.

    • Background in design, release, or processing roles with experience developing EDD, variable, and tooling costs for automotive components.

    • Experience across multiple areas, including:

      • Body, Interior, Chassis, Electrical, Propulsion, Battery, Engine, Transmission, ePT, HVAC systems.
    • Experience with system/component architecture and hardware.

    • Prior design and release experience preferred.

    • Knowledge of the full product life cycle.

    • Expertise in activity-based costing and/or quoting.

    • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

    • High proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing).

    • Proficiency in NX and Teamcenter.

    • Strong analytical ability to identify savings opportunities.

    • Strong negotiation skills.

    • Knowledge of Shainin Red X or other reactive quality tools.

    • Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma or other proactive quality tools.

    • Experience with lean product development.
