JOB DESCRIPTION

Honor Foods is a multi - location, food and Beverage Company headquartered in the Philadelphia area looking for a Transportation Dispatcher. The position reports to the Assistant Transportation Manager.

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION: Communicates directly with company drivers in order to better service our transportation ,sales departments and customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ø Maintain daily log of drivers and Dispatch System, and has continued contact with drivers including recording arrival/departure times at customers, lunch breaks, and route completions.

Ø Communicates with Inside Sales throughout the day for updates on late routes, truck delays and breakdowns, etc.

Ø Communicate estimated delivery dates/times to customers

Ø Manage various customer delivery expectations to ensure each customers- needs are met

Ø Receives incoming updates from drivers.

Ø Assign loads - set up next day's dispatch sheet

Ø Monitor progress of drivers and assess the need for assistance or identify other possible route concerns to ensure timely completion of routes.

Ø Assigns haul backs when necessary.

Ø Answers incoming phone calls.

Ø Receives, routes, and analyzes information for the department.

Ø Organizes necessary paperwork for drivers.

Ø Schedule drivers to balance payroll and DOT available hours; Arrange alternate when drivers are absent

Ø Ensure driver receives all necessary paperwork including invoices, manifests, etc.

Ø Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

· High school diploma or general equivalency degree required, four year college degree preferred

· Must be flexible and willing to work overtime when needed

· 2-4 years previous related experience

· Ability to deal with problems involving multiple variables in changing pressure-filled situations

· Excellent mathematical and reading skills.

· Good verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.

· Ability to work well with both internal and external customers.

• Proficient in WMS and Office
• Previously demonstrated proficiency with routing/logistics software

· Strong organizational skills.
