Job Description
The Design Engineer is responsible for developing solutions to a variety of complex engineering problems. General responsibilities include module customization. Specific activities include but are not limited to: product development support, existing product customization, qualification and certification documentation review, continued airworthiness evaluation, cabin installation definition/drawings, and component supplier interface/oversight.
- Responsible for delivering fully qualified cabin equipment designs that meet the technical, weight, schedule, quality and cost targets of the Program.
- Manage the General Requirements for Equipment & System Suppliers (GRESS) deliverables for the program, including determining the applicable GRESS items for Cabin equipment designs, maintaining the action item log, aggressively pursuing action holders to close actions, and providing complete transparency to stakeholders. 20%
- Prepare and lead Initial Technical Coordination Meetings (ITCM), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR) and major milestone meetings with Airline Customers, Suppliers all relevant stakeholders per development milestones.
- Define/Validate Interfaces to the aircraft including development of customized modules installation requirements (including validation of both structural and system interfaces). Validate module interface points and update Customized Technical Specifications as appropriate
- Guide and perform qualification and verification and validation of Cabin equipment designs including release of the Declaration of Design Performance (DDP). Ensure that the design is fully certified and all the necessary data for validation, test and certification delivered is in accordance with Program milestones.
- Initiate, monitor and manage Supplier Improvements and Transformation Projects to drive performance and to ensure supplier’s compliance to Airbus requirements and processes. Analyze Change Requests designs based on customer, manufacturing and/or design requirements.
