    JOB SUMMARY: 

     

    Work is performed with limited supervision.  Responsible for evaluating and repairing home furnishings in accordance with company quality standards.  May perform repairs at guest’s location.  Assist in the prepping of home furnishings in preparation for delivery. Travel required. Must have clean driving record and Valid active drivers license. 

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Pull home furnishing for repair in the Shop.
    • Evaluate each piece of home furnishing to determine the type of repair and any parts that need to be ordered for the repair to be completed.
    • Request necessary parts needed for home furnishing to be repaired.
    • Inspect replacement parts for damage and verify that part is correct.
    • Make repairs on a variety of home furnishings including but not limited to, case goods, leather and upholstered pieces. Ensure repairs meet company quality standards and guest satisfaction.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
    • Perform In-Home service as needed including but not limited to, route service calls to notify guest of expected arrival time; load replacement parts in service vehicle; locate and identify all returned parts; and ensure service vehicle is properly stocked with all necessary parts, tools and supplies to perform the job; assess home furniture damage and determine appropriate resolution; perform required repairs; complete required paperwork, and maintain service vehicle mechanically and in exterior and interior appearance.
    • Promote a professional manner in appearance and demeanor.
    • Assist in training Finishers I.
    • Must develop skills to move through all Finisher jobs within established timeframe.
    • Comply with all applicable company safety standards.
    • Adheres to safety standards and wears safety equipment, whenever necessary.
    • Maintains cleanliness and organization of racks and aisles.
    • Answers incoming telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner; directs callers to the appropriate person or department or provides information requested.
    • Performs other functions as needed and required.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid drivers license with proof of a good driving record.  Satisfactory completion of driving record.

     

    EXPERIENCE:  Prior Wood finishing and repair and or upholstery experience preferred

                                                                                                                           

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:  Expert in furniture construction including reclining mechanisms.  Ability to effectively use power and hand tools including but not limited to saws, drills, sanders, screwdrivers, wrenches, and hammers; and expert in furniture construction including reclining mechanism.  Expert in surfacing, (sanding, filler and burn-ins); color, graining and stain matching; and blind stitching, panel replacement and leather repairs. Attention to detail.  Demonstrated ability in working with intricate and delicate repairs.  Strong customer orientation with excellent interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to satisfactorily resolve guest’s problems/issues, and perform complex upholstery repairs.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL ABILITIES: 

     

    Work performed primarily in a Shop environment however, may be required to perform off site repairs at guest’s location based on department’s workload.  Exposure to electric knives and small ovens with high temperatures to heat product used to make repairs. May be required to operate a motor vehicle for guest’s visits for extended periods of time during the day, and climb in and out of the vehicle. Ability to operate power and hand tools.  Continuously lifts at least one-hundred (100) pounds; stand, bend, crouch, kneel, carry furniture, push, pull, grip/grasp and use fine finger movements in performing repairs.  Potential exposure to chemicals either through skin and/or inhalation.  Must be available to work day or evening.
