    C&M; Technician - LCL949 (Shakopee, MN) LCL949 Work Location: Shakopee, MN ** ** JobSummary: Performs quality construction and maintenance on gas distributions system. Safely operates and maintains several types of construction equipment minimizing down time and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: * Assembles, installs, repairs, tests and maintains the gas distribution system and related equipment, including but not limited to gas meters and regulators to assure safe, continuous service to customers. Responds to emergency situations to maintain public and personal safety. * Operates equipment/tools used in the protection, repair, replacement and installation of new gas mains and services, including preparation and restoration of the construction site for completion of assigned projects. * Performs routine operator maintenance on all equipment/tools used in and associated with the construction, maintenance, and repair and testing of the gas distributions system. To assure safe, efficient performance and minimizing down time. * Inspects distribution system maps and drawings to determine location, gas flow patterns and pressures, and to ensure that components used in repairing and adding to the system are appropriate. * Follows the Operations Manual procedures and inspects work of the crew for compliance with all company codes and those of local, state and federal agencies. * Completes record-keeping associated with construction and maintenance operations in a timely manner to ensure an up to date and accurate information system is maintained. * Performs other related tasks including, but not limited to, leak survey work, line locating, foreign construction work, store-keeping, meter reading, chart changing, transporting equipment, and fleet and facilities maintenance to ensure efficient operation of the work. * Participates in external and internal training, both field and classroom, to increase job knowledge and competency. Advises and assists other employees on-the-job to provide technical, safety and procedural knowledge. * Maintains a professional working relationship with internal and external customers. **Education: ** High School Diploma or GED Experience: B - Entry level position ***A **- Requires a minimum of one years experience in the installation and repair of services and mains as well as demonstrated requisite knowledge and operating experience of various excavation equipment; e.g., trencher, tractor, backhoe. Must be a Technician B for at least six months. *SPECIAL - Requires a minimum 2 years experience in the installation and repair of services and mains as well as demonstrate requisite knowledge and operating experience of excavation equipment such as; trencher, tractor, backhoe, etc. Additional Knowledge, Skills, Licenses/Certifications, Abilities & Personal Characteristics (KSLAPs): **** * Able to meet and maintain performance and attendance criteria for the job. * Able to obtain a CNP P.E. Fusion Qualification Certificate within six months of hire date. * Able to possess a valid Minnesota CDL drivers license, DOT Health Card and have a safe driving record as determined by the Company (or obtain the CDL license within six months of hire date). * Able to demonstrate adequate ability and coordination in operation of construction equipment, including depth perception, to avoid damage to facilities when working in close proximity to existing structures. * Able to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of safety procedures, practices and policies. * Able to read and interpret distribution system maps, drawings, valve books and the operation manual. * Able to meet Operator Qualification requirements to this position or become qualified within the timeframe established by the Company. * Able to communicate clearly and effectively with customers, employees and others as needed. * Able to meet all physical requirements, competency-based assessments, pre-employment background checks, pre-employment drug screen and other selection criteria determined by the company.
