    Job Details Job Title Rail Transportation Instructor Job ID 501642 Location City of Charlotte Full/Part Time Full-Time Regular/Temporary Regular Close Date 01/01/2019 ------------ CoC Job Details Summary: The Rail Transportation Instructor is responsible for the design, development and delivery of technical classroom training programs and curriculums for the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) Rail Transportation Section. Will effectively plan and organize training program for the instruction of new hires and re-instruction of veteran Rail Operators, Rail Transportation Supervisors, Rail Controllers, Rail Dispatchers, and other personnel in the proper and safe method of providing rail transportation in accordance with CATS and appropriate regulations, policies and procedures. Major Duties and Responsibilities: * Designs and administers technical on-the-job training program and curriculums for new hires and refresher training for veteran Rail Transportation employees * Conducts classroom style training programs and one-on-one sessions for adult learners * Conducts training needs assessments and makes appropriate recommendations to management * Provides re-certification and refresher training * Ensures all required technical training is scheduled, completed and documented * Assists in rail incident/accident investigations * Conducts Rail Operator trip evaluations * Ensures safety standards are met * Collaborates with other training supervisors and Safety and Security staff * Provides input in performance evaluation process * May operate light rail vehicle as needed * Establish training standards of quality, as well as the short and long-range training objectives * Performs working supervisory job functions * Work includes working varying shifts to accommodate training schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays, special events and during inclement weather * Responds to rail incident/accidents and assists with investigations * Performs other duties as required * This is an instructor of adult learners position with working supervisory functions for Rail Transportation * This is a safety and security sensitive position subject to FTA drug and alcohol compliance Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelors degree with three (3) years of transit operations experience * Specific experience developing rail transportation training programs/curriculums and providing instruction to adult learners is preferred * Must have a minimum of two (2) years of lead/supervisory experience * Must have demonstrated knowledge of adult learning techniques and program evaluation * Requires demonstrated advanced MS Office Suite skills and statistical analysis software * Requires the ability to learn e-learning delivery applications * Must possess excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills * Requires the ability to coach and engage employees in the learning process * Must be able to obtain and retain a City Driving Permit * Requires a Class "B" CDL * Must be able to pass a DOT pre-employment physical * Must have successful DMV checks Salary Range: Negotiable Up to $68,447 How to Apply: Apply online.
