Job Description
We are seeking high-caliber Lead Engineers to spearhead the development of Door Handles for current production programs. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of exterior and interior handle mechanisms. You will lead strategic suppliers through an accelerated "go-fast" application process, moving from initial design to full production readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Leadership: Lead and manage suppliers through all development stages, ensuring parts are released and ready for production tooling.
Project Management: Maintain project timing, drive milestone compliance, and keep management informed of progress and roadblocks.
Quality & Validation: Ensure all tooled parts are validated per PPAP requirements and coordinate both supplier and internal vehicle/sub-system validation testing.
Technical Design: Perform design, CAD, and drawing reviews. Run analytical verifications including simulations, calculations, and stack-ups.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with internal technical groups (including latching and closures) to ensure all interface requirements are met.
Documentation: Integrate lessons learned into FMEAs, prepare technical presentations, and manage supplier design data within internal systems (WERS, Teamcenter).
Qualifications
Experience: 10+ years of mechanisms development experience (ideally related to latching, handles, or exterior mechanisms).
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of engineering plastics, steels, and manufacturing processes (molding, stampings, castings).
Software Proficiency: Experience with CATIA V5/V6, Teamcenter/Enovia, and Microsoft Office tools.
Engineering Tools: Expertise with DFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T, and problem-solving tools (5D/8D, 6-sigma).
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for regular interaction with technical groups and management.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with water management, sealing design, greases, and painted plastics.
Understanding of electronics such as microswitches and small harnesses.
Familiarity with tolerance analytical tools (C-Tol, 3DCS, Enventive) or CAE tools (ADAMS, FEA, Hypermesh).
