  • Responsibilities

    This is a temporary position involving various duties that will supplement a student's major field of study &/or provide an experience that is a useful addition to the student's education & meaningful preparation for future professional employment.

    • Assists Attorneys by drafting legal documents &/or reports using a computer & related software (e.g., Microsoft Office), filing documents with local courts & interacting with customers (e.g., public inquiries, public claims).
    • Assists with legal projects (e.g., organizing legal database, filing systems).
    • Maintains & updates legal files.
    • Uses a computer & related software (e.g., Microsoft Office) & prepares confidential correspondence in response to legal inquiries (e.g., public records requests, discovery results).
    • Runs reports (e.g., Road Defect/Damage Incident Reports); opens & enters new claims & sends claims to districts for response using a computer & related software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
    • Creates Investigation Reports & Briefs/Pleadings for review, attorney's signature & filing with the court using computer & related software (e.g., Microsoft Office, graphical query language (GQL)) & travels to file briefs/pleadings with the Ohio Court of Claims.
    • Performs clerical tasks (e.g., receives, opens, logs & distributes incoming mail as necessary; answers phone & screens calls).
    • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned (e.g., handles sensitive inquiries, provides information both verbally & in writing, gathers & organizes information for reports, attends project-related meetings).
