    • United States, MA, Waltham * Internship; 7 Months * Full-Time * Reference 503455 Imagine New Horizons As a SOLIDWORKS User Experience Design (UXD) intern, you will work closely with a small team to define the road map for new and upcoming SOLIDWORKS projects. This is a paid internship with flexible hours to accommodate your school schedule February September 2018. The SOLIDWORKS User Experience Design team is multidisciplinary and made up of User Experience Designers, Graphic Designers, User Researchers, and Engineers who are responsible for the User Experience and User Interface of SOLIDWORKS products. We handle a diverse range of products from Desktop CAD software to web applications to mobile and support a diverse range of interfaces including Augmented and Virtual Reality. You will have the opportunity to (but not limited to) do the following: Participating in research, planning, and design of functionality for SolidWorks products Creating wireframes and User Interface (UI) concept mockups Creating low, medium, and high fidelity UI prototypes Helping to conduct user research and usability tests Coordinating with senior UX team members to ensure design and workflow consistencies Your Challenges ahead You will support the UX design effort for products that can benefit from the perspective of a student user. The challenge will be to see if you can solve a problem differently by understanding the design problem, asking the right questions, and addressing the need with the users benefit in mind. You will have to understand the User Experience design process through discovery, concept, and detailed design. You will have to communicate your design proposals to a multidisciplinary team both orally and in writing. Some of the projects you may work on will be part of our suite of products supporting professional engineers. Engineering background or a good technical understanding of this area will be a beneficial skill. Your key success factors You must be enrolled in a Bachelors degree program or a Graduate student pursuing a Masters degree in User Experience, User Research, Graphic Design, or similar fields. 'A degree in Mechanical, Plastics or Electrical Engineering with an interest in user-centered design will also be suitable. Minimum cumulative GPA 3.0 /4.0 scale Works onsite in the Waltham office You should have working knowledge of wireframing/prototyping tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe XD, Balsamiq, Sketch, InVision, UXPin, Indigo Studio, or other similar tools Experience with 3D modeling, SOLIDWORKS preferred, and 3D printing would be a bonus. Possesses polished interpersonal skills, strong self-motivation and maturity. Highly organized and precise. Ability to sketch and express ideas quickly and fluidly. Ability to discuss design ideas and design rationale, both orally and in writing.
