    Safety Specialist Requisition #: 272484 Salt Lake City, UT Thank you for your interest in the Safety Specialist position covering the SLC Hub. This position will be based in Salt Lake City, UT and will report to the General Manager of Airport Customer Service for SLC. JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the development and implementation of safety, security, and quality assurance compliance. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: * It includes: reviewing, interpreting and communicating procedures outlined in the Ground Operations Manual (GOM), Safety Policies and Procedures Manual (SPPM), and regional SOPs as well as administering and maintaining the overall Safety Business Plan and injury / ground safety incident investigation programs for all stations within their assigned region. * Performing a variety of activities related to safety, Security, compliance, analysis, and prevention of on-the-job injuries and equipment damage. * Analyzing station/regional performance through observations, cross divisional audits, and monitoring of system trends. * Develops, communicates, and executes divisional/regional programs designed to ensure compliance with all company and governmental regulations while protecting Delta employees and assets. * Recommends and coordinates proposed changes with operational leaders and various departments. * Analyzes station compliance practices/procedures, identifies and conducts awareness training on compliance. * Works with station leadership to coach and mentor DL teams and/or business partners to ensure effective implementation of compliance processes and procedures as needed. * Works closely with ACS and Corporate security, safety and compliance teams. * Coordinate aircraft damage, ground support equipment (GSE), and facility investigations with all divisions and business partners. * Develops and assists with safety training, incident investigator training, and safety briefing items. * Maintains Corporate Ground Safety Incident Database, records ground safety incident action items, responds to inquiries regarding incident data, conduct quality control functions for injury and damage information in SafetyNet or other systems. * Reviews trends on incident data, produces statistical reports for all levels of management, identifying areas that need improvement and tracks results of corrective action implementation. * Provides Technical Assistance to all divisions, subject matter expert on aircraft ground damage and employee injuries, conducts analysis of FOD and Bird Strike incidents * performs duties as expert witness in government investigations, on scene assistance, serves as the Go Team Safety Officer and providing safety consulting services to all Delta divisions. * Liaison with Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering, Corporate Real Estate, GSE Engineering, Business Partners, governmental agencies, and other groups regarding incidents. * Conducts meetings with groups, facilitates design improvements, assists continuous improvement processes and incorporates reliability into operation. * Coordinates / facilitates safety efforts with JV Partners and Delta Connection Carriers. * This position is responsible for the implementation and continuous improvement of ACS Compliance, ASAP and SMS reporting, analytics and communications, streamlining data sources and databases for ease of customer use and rapid access * Responsibilities include daily use of analytical, root cause mapping, administrative, and investigative skills and functions, including the accurate collection, analysis and summation of safety, compliance, SMS and ASAP data to proactively identify hazards and compliance trends and associated risk. * Implementation of effective methods to measure corporate compliance audit performance results against self-audit performance results and effectively summarize. * Develops both strategic and tactical plans that create a safety-conscious environment resulting in employee safety and well-being. QUALIFICATIONS: * This position requires a strong working knowledge of Delta policies and procedures. * Must have the ability to objectively analyze incidents, injuries and damages with a focus on developing solutions and implementing processes to prevent recurrences.

    • Must possess good teamwork skills and the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the company. A college degree or equivalent experience, along with a leadership background is preferred. Must have at least 3 years of relevant/analytical work experience. Must be self-motivated and possess strong written and oral communication skills. * Work experience in operations, passenger service, air logistics, fueling and cabin services is highly desirable. * Should work well under pressure, be detail oriented, meet deadlines and exhibit excellent organizational skills. Should possess exceptional computer skills with experience in Delta Term, STARS, ASAP and Microsoft applications. * Must possess strong customer service orientation. * Presentation deck building will be required to ensure data is effectively communicated in clear, concise and simple manner. * This position requires some travel. Must be willing and able to travel to ATL for meetings and other locations to gain best practices. * This position requires flexibility and availability to station leadership when needed.
