At this time, Dominion Energy cannot transfer nor sponsor a work visa for this position. Job Summary This internship will support our Regional Operations Center, located in Norfolk, VA. While working under direct oversight, this role is responsible for service restoration and distribution switching activities using knowledge of electric distribution systems including technical knowledge of operations and switching practices. Responsibilities include: - Make updates to circuit one-lines, restoration contingency plans, and internal reporting documents. - Gathers and analyzes various systems data to determine location and cause of power outages. - Dispatches first response personnel and repair crews to provide quick and logical response to outages and emergency situations. - Provides accurate and timely information to customers including estimated time of restoration. - Provides information and updates to internal departments. - Performs overtime callouts to emergency response teams. - Accurately report outages to customer accounts. - Supports emergency restoration of service during storms. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience - Must be currently enrolled full-time in a 4-year degree program or currently pursuing a 2-year degree with the intention to transfer to a 4-year university - Majoring in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Homeland Security/Emergency Management or Business majors preferred. - Must have a graduation date of May 2021 or later. - Basic understanding of electrical functions is strongly preferred. - Multi-tasking and ability to stay calm under complex and stressful conditions. Education Requirements - Must be currently enrolled full-time in a 4-year degree program or currently pursuing a 2-year degree with the intention to transfer to a 4-year university - Majoring in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Homeland Security/Emergency Management or Business majors preferred. - Must have a graduation date of May 2021 or later. - Must have a GPA of 2.5 or greater Working Conditions Test Description No Testing Required Export Control Certain positions at Dominion Energy may involve access to information and technology subject to export controls under U.S. law.
