Job Summary The intern will accompany Safety personnel in the performance on their duties, to assess activities and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements. - Assist station Senior Safety Specialist and Safety Specialist in administering safety and fire protection policies and programs. - Assist in promoting safety and health, and acts as an advocate for change, providing outside perspective to existing safety and health programs. - Identify potential safety, health, workers compensation and fire protection prevention risks and recommend corrective measures. - Monitor and evaluate the workplace to ensure compliance with all OSHA and company regulations.Perform safety inspections/audits and monitor work practices to ensure employees are performing jobs in compliance with regulatory and company safety policies and programs. - Demonstrate willingness to learn all aspects of the safety/health function along with willingness to learn loss prevention methods and processes (fire protection). - Assist in delivering safety and fire protection training and presentations as requested by the station Senior Safety Specialist. - May administer public safety programs (orientations) for external contractors. - Assist in the review and update of existing safety procedures and safety related preventative maintenance techniques under direction of the station Senior Safety Specialist. - Perform other duties as requested or assigned Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience - Good verbal and written communication skills. - Developing knowledge of OSHA standards requirements. - Excellent computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft applications. - Work effectively in a team environment. - Developing ability to perform root cause analysis on incident investigations. - 1 to 2 years experience in safety related field (i.e. emergency services) a plus. - Valid drivers license is also required. Education Requirements - Candidates must be enrolled full-time in a Safety Management Program or similar degree track (i.e. Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, Risk Management, etc.) - Candidates must have an anticipated graduation date of December 2019 or later - Prefer students with anticipated graduation dates between December 2019 and May 2021 - Candidates must have a 2.5 GPA or greater Working Conditions Test Description No Testing Required Export Control Certain positions at Dominion Energy may involve access to information and technology subject to export controls under U.S. law.
