Engineering and Technology: Application Development Summer Internship 2024
JOB SUMMARY:
Internships provide valuable insight into the industry, help you build a professional network, grow your practical job knowledge, and give you a competitive edge over your peers in the job market. Our Internship Program is designed to give students the opportunity to extend their classroom learning and get “real world” industry experience, while still completing their degree.
Under routine supervision, this position is responsible for participating in software development tasks as part of an engineering team. This Summer Internship opportunity is an 9-week commitment working 40 hours per week.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Assist mentor team with coding, debugging, testing, and documenting software applications
Learn to diagnose systems problems
Perform limited analysis and design tasks
Expand knowledge of the transportation industry and related systems
Participate in SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle)
Attend Professional Development Series
Regularly connect with leadership assigned to you
DURING THE INTERNSHIP:
J.B. Hunt’s culture is focused on maximizing an intern's growth and potential. As such, a Summer Internship Program has been designed to provide young developers with the opportunity to contribute to J.B. Hunt’s success by working directly with Dev teams in several areas within J.B. Hunt’s Engineering & Technology organization getting hands on experience with our enterprise code base, making improvements, updates and maintaining dozens of products within the J.B. Hunt software platform.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualification: Must be currently enrolled in technology related degree program such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology. Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75, with a 3.0 in the major field of study. Be able to work at least 20 hours a week during the school semester.
Preferred Qualification: Preference will be given to applicants who are enrolled (or have just completed) a course of study in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or applicable degree field at an accredited university or junior college.
