Job Description
SCOPE OF POSITION
Manage all facets of the warehouse including but not limited to receiving, shipping, cargo screening, cross-dock and foreign-trade zone activity. Warehouse Manager is expected to demonstrate strong leadership skills, process management and employee development.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Facility Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining safety and security of all employees through consistent oversight of warehouse processes
- Maintain cleanliness of facility. Warehouse should be presentable to customers at all times
- Manage all equipment including forklifts, cargo screening equipment, lighting, dock doors, battery charging stations, access points and work stations
- Purchasing materials and managing material inventory (tape, shrink wrap, pallets, banding, etc)
Operational Responsibilities:
- Operational oversight for all receiving and shipping activities.
- Quality management systems established for all core departmental processes including receiving, shipping, inventory management and cargo screening
- Maintain adherence to all regulatory compliance including TSA IACSSP, TSA CCSF
- Consistent inventory control and reconciliation process
- Proactive communication related to customer service failures thorough comprehensive root cause/corrective action resolution
- Financial ownership of budgeted head count and other budgeted items (leases, other equipment expenditures, etc)
People
- Identify, develop, and mentor your No. 2
- Review and participate to staff appraisals timely, and at a minimum once per year per employee
- Ensure all staff and positions have job descriptions, clear expectations and are working with structured development plans
- Ensure and assist supervisors and key staff with goal setting and monitoring
- Conduct regular interviews with potential new personnel
- Plan for and hold effective monthly department meetings with team
- Review department goals and business plan periodically with staff to ensure buy-in and accountability
- Meet company standards of 52 hours training per year, including as needed management/leadership training
- Responsible for mandatory training related to Dangerous Goods, OSHA, CCSF and IACSSP
- Demand planning defined by aligning resources with labor demand
