Job Description

The Carrier Allocation Application evolved through a collaboration with a pilot customer to address a problem space many importers and exporters, with direct ocean contracts, face: and that is the ability to provide realistic forecasts to their carriers, and secure capacity AT THEIR CONTRACTED RATES to ensure their goods arrive in the right place at the right time.

Carrier Allocation is a modern, responsive single-page web application that forecasts, plans, and connects carriers and forwarders weeks in advance of shipping to determine the optimal flow of product prior to the booking.

What you will be doing:

• Playing a key role on a collaborative project team, responsible for the design and production of mission critical, enterprise-scale business systems
• Translating requirements into system design specifications and the implementation of systems throughout the entire software development life cycle
• Developing a thorough understanding of the logistics ocean business domain
• Maintaining an awareness of evolving technologies in use by other teams at Expeditors and in the technology industry as a whole

This position will sit in greater Seattle, WA. area Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• 2+ year's professional software development experience
• Solid experience in analysis and design using object-oriented techniques
• Comfortable working with backend code (Java / Spring) to write the business logic, database queries, and APIs
• Programming proficiency and experience with Java required
• Experience with relational databases, SQL, and ORMs
• Experience with Agile software development methodologies

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• BS in Computer Science or similar, or comparable work experience
• Experience building front end client (Angular / Bootstrap / HTML, CSS)
• Experience with Eclipse, IntelliJ or Visual Studio Code IDE's
• Experience with Git, branching, and merge requests / pull requests
• Experience with RxJs / NgRx / Redux
• Experience with creating interactive, responsive websites and forms that look great across devices and screen sizes

Additional Information

Position is full time (40 hours per week) Monday through Friday. We are a business professional attire company.
