    JOB SUMMARY: 

    Business Development Associate is a sales and coordination role supporting the BD team in new customer acquisition/retention, market research, MARCOM, proposal generation, customer communication and coordination of meetings in the defense and aerospace industry.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide the highest level of customer and team support in an organized fashion. Strong communication skills and strategic thinking are necessary to successfully navigate the challenges of the Department of Defense (DOD) market.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Coordinate business development, marketing, sales, and special projects to support business growth.

      • General sales/customer outreach including cold calling and emailing
      • Manage in-bound customer requests
      • Team engagement with customer and Meggitt staff on a weekly basis both on technical/material, product, process and deliverables
      • 10%-20% of travel required; Coordinate and attend industry tradeshows and customer events; sales calls to clients throughout the year
      • Participate and coordinate strategic meetings including long-term sales plans, target accounts/markets
      • Set daily meetings/register BD Team for industry days, trade shows, etc.
      • Participate in bid board opportunity identification and assessment process
      • Manage necessary client paperwork through proper Meggitt channels. (Examples; NDA’s, Reps & Certs, T&Cs or anything else required to help bridge the gap between us and the customer)
      • Manage customer scorecard collection and corrective action plans
      • Maintain existing publications, local/national organization memberships and relationships
    • Support the proposal team and process from acceptance of solicitations (i.e., RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, etc.), through proposal submission and follow up with customers

      • Analyze solicitations, identify all requirements and criteria for evaluation, and prepare a detailed proposal outline
      • Coordinate proposal inputs from Engineering, Operations, Contracts, Finance, and Business Development
      • Coordinate with Business Development/Finance leads to set proposal review and response priorities
      • Sales tracking (sales pipeline and proposal logs) and host weekly cross-functional review.
    • Manage and report proposal activity and status on various internal matrices

    Required Skills

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  

    • Bachelor’s degree desired but comparable BD/sales experience will be considered
    • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a customer facing position; sales, business development, and/or coordinating
    • Experience with a Department of Defense second or third tier supplier, production environment, or knowledge of DOD sales cycle is desired
    • Prefer knowledge of defense and/or federal government proposal request processes and experience implementing more efficient processes utilizing lessons learned
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and editing capabilities
    • Strong analytical skills and project data consolidated and presentation experience
    • MS Office proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, Project and PowerPoint
    • Eligible to receive US Government secret level security clearance

     

    PHYSICAL / MENTAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Position involves sitting, standing and/or walking.  Position requires ability to frequently exert up to 10 pounds of force to move objects and occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to move objects.  The work site is an industrial manufacturing operation and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required in some aspects of the role. Work usually performed in air-conditioned office environment with the opportunity to work a “hybrid” work from home/office schedule. The position requires some travel estimated at 10%-20%.
