    The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers in government, international institutions, the private sector, and civil society. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of more than 200 employees working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.

    The CSIS Europe, Russia, and Eurasia program is currently seeking candidates for a full-time, paid summer 2022 internship running from late May through August. CSIS is open to considering remote internships for candidates who are unable to relocate in extraordinary cases, but work is primarily done from our office in downtown Washington, DC. All candidates must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

    THIS IS A PAID INTERNSHIP

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Conduct open-source research on capability and operational gaps in European defense. • Compiling research briefs and literature reviews related to European defense capabilities. • Compiling a daily newsbrief on relevant political, economic, and security developments in Europe for research staff. • Supporting organization of roundtables and meetings with subject matter experts.

    KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

     

    Successful candidates will: • Possess a B.A. in international relations, economics, political science, or another related field and a strong academic record with a demonstrated interest in European affairs. • Minimum of a 3.5 GPA on a U.S. scale or equivalent. • Demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and communication skills, with an ability to effectively present information and represent the program in a professional manner. • Have proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

    The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee working in an office environment.
