    Job Summary

    Akebia is seeking a highly skilled contract manager to oversee the various stage of the supplier contracting including documentation review, assessment, risk mitigation, redlining, and negotiation to ensure fair and balance contracts with clear terms. The candidate must be knowledgeable in contract law, standard terms/clauses, and good contracting services in the life sciences industry.

    Essential Functions & Duties

    • Review contractual documents (statements of work, confidentiality agreements, master services agreements) to ensure:
      • Compliance to company policies and requirements
      • Observance of good contracting practices and clarity of business terms
        • Services to be performed
        • Responsibilities by both parties
        • Performance/milestones to be met, payment parameters
      • Leverage internal corporate templates whenever possible
      • Relevant internal parties are involved in the review, as necessary, per the contract content (legal, information technology, finance, etc.)
      • Visibility/transparency to Internal stakeholders
    • Partner with our legal team to facilitate review of legal terms and other contract anomalies
    • Negotiate with third parties to negotiate terms, resolve conflicts and facilitate to find acceptable terms to both parties
    • Highlight and communicate business risks that were unable to be mitigated in contract negotiation to key stakeholders to ensure full transparency
    • Advise/train internal stakeholders on process parameters and good contracting practices
    • Track turnround times, common contract shortcomings, and other relevant data to enable process improvement

    Skills & Experience

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Proficiency in contract law
    • Prior experience working as a contract manager or a related job role
    • Contract drafting and negotiation skills
    • Accuracy and high attention to detail

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 8-10 years’ experience with pharmaceutical/biotech related supply base, including contracts within the following business areas: clinical research organizations, FDA regulated support areas such as pharmacovigilance, regulatory, medical affairs, etc., pharmaceutical product commercialization/sales

    Compensation:

    Targeted Base: $132,167 - 163,266*

    *Base Compensation for this role will depend on a number of factors including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience, and may fall outside of the range shown. Base pay is only one component of the company’s total rewards package, all regular employees are also eligible for the corporate bonus program or the incentive compensation program (if applicable), as well as equity. Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, etc.

    Qualifications:


    • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 15 years of overall experience in the construction industry.
    • Proven experience in heavy construction projects.
    • Strong expertise in change order pricing, negotiation, claims management, subcontractor management, and cost controls.
    • Excellent understanding of construction contracts and legal aspects of construction projects.
    • Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
