Level will be commensurate with experience and skills set Primary Role: Monitors and evaluates rotating and reciprocating equipment (two and four-cycle internal combustion engines, compressors, fans, pumps, turbines and centrifugal compressors, etc.) utilizing specialized electronic analyzing equipment. Examines, analyzes, troubleshoots, and diagnoses equipment for operational defects. On occasion, the Engineering Technician will assist Mechanical Maintenance with troubleshooting and repairs on equipment. The Engineering Technician frequently works with the Environmental Department in scheduling and completing emissions testing. The Engineering Technician is required to monitor emission levels and keep all engines and turbines running in compliance with permitted emissions levels. Must maintain accurate records of all engine and compressor analysis and emission testing. The Engineering Technician is responsible for calibrating and maintaining analytical equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for the operation of engine and compressor analytical equipment, vibration equipment, emission analysis equipment, and borescopes utilized in acquiring equipment data. Must possess and continue to develop skill of analyzing data, and developing specific recommendations and corrective actions based on found data. Supports analysis and maintenance of plant systems including natural gas compression equipment, control systems, auxiliary support systems and equipment. Provides condition-based corrective action recommendations to resolve operational problems on natural gas compression equipment and works directly with local Operations personnel to resolve ancillary plant equipment issues. Provides technical assistance for the operation and maintenance of plant equipment and systems. Provides training on equipment operation and maintenance policies and procedures. Assists in equipment failure analysis and in the development of standard practices and procedures. Conducts portable emissions analysis testing for compliance testing and verification, and assists in scheduling and conducting trailer-mounted equipment testing as required. Conducts green-house-gas and gas leak-surveys using advanced detection and imaging equipment. Supports the identification and prioritization of Capital and O&M projects. Regular and predictable work place / on-site attendance is required. Position Requirements Educational Requirements: Must hold an Associates Degree in a technical field; or equivalent relevant experience. Experience and Knowledge: Possess a thorough understanding of the mechanical aspects of internal combustion engines and gas compression equipment and their support systems. Experience with reciprocating engine condition monitoring systems such as Windrock Balancer or Recip-Trap. Thorough knowledge of condition-monitoring and condition-based-maintenance techniques. Demonstrated ability to investigate and troubleshoot vibration problems. Strong understanding of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software programs along with proprietary analyzer software. Excellent planning and organizational skills. Must be able to prioritize assignments according to business needs. Excellent written and oral communications skills proven ability to produce clear, concise written reports, and discuss and review, and present technical information. Excellent team working skills demonstrated ability to work with operations groups, support groups, and engineering support staff. Must be able to work effectively without direct supervision Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers. Competencies, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrate customer focus in dealing with engineering, field operations, and other internal and external groups. Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work with a minimum of supervision. Must be comfortable working with remote supervision. Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize and adhere to established work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules. Must be able to respond rapidly to live to call-outs in the Portland, TN area. Physical Demands: Must be able to withstand extreme conditions; work outdoors in all seasons. Must be able to frequently enter confined spaces and climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders and walkways. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds in awkward positions, and 50 pounds from floor to waist. Working Conditions: Required to carry a company-provided cell phone and be available to respond during working hours, and non-working hours as needed. Travel is required and anticipated up to 40% - 60% on average; will include out-of-town nights. Required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
