    The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.

     

    JOB SUMMARY:

     

    The Trustee Chair in Chinese Business and Economics is dedicated to providing thought leadership for the policy community about the dynamics of China’s economy and its implications for industries and other countries. Our work – research, publications, events & outreach – focuses on the overall trajectory of China’s economy, their high-tech innovation drive, and America’s China policy.

     

    The Trustee Chair in Chinese Business and Economics is seeking two full-time or part-time research interns who can provide dedicated support for research and analysis, during the period from JANUARY 11, 2021 UNTIL MAY 28, 2021. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, professional, and has a strong interest in China’s political economy, domestic and international. The research intern supports the research agenda of the program, engagement events, and promotional activities. Specific tasks include:

     

    • Assisting in quantitative and qualitative research, analysis, and writing for articles, event summaries, and other such projects as dictated by program needs • Assisting in spot and background research • Assisting in updating the program’s databases • Curating Trustee Chair social media • Monitoring events in Chinese domestic and international policy, and reporting daily • Providing logistical and administrative support for ongoing programs and projects • Assisting in event planning • Performing a variety of other Trustee Chair related duties as assigned

     

    KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Current graduate students, undergraduate seniors, and recent graduates. Applicants currently enrolled in or those that have recently completed a master’s degree are preferred. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) from an accredited U.S. institution or equivalent from a non-U.S. institution • Must be eligible to work in the United States • Must be able to commit to 20 or 35 hours a week • Must have quantitative research experience • Must have strong research, analysis, and writing skills • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills • Must have the ability to work independently • Must have the ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects under tight deadlines • Must demonstrate academic/professional background in Chinese industrial policy or China’s macroeconomy and financial markets • Must be able to read Chinese-language documents • Experience curating social media platforms preferred • Experience using Bloomberg Terminal preferred

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Ability to work with engineers to develop strategic and tactical plans to address the conditions, update eMASS and PPSM portals.
    • Provide Information Assurance (IA) support to coordinate and obtain Interim and Final approvals to test and operate, to include C&A support, mitigation strategies and techniques, tracking, assessment, testing and implementation updates, patches and upgrades in accordance with the IAVA directives issued by the USCYBERCOM and DISA CIO, and test plans, procedures and reports dealing with all levels of security products, systems, networks and architectures.
    • Support collaboration of PM, UC Lab, and others to obtain the necessary approvals to conduct testing and ensure IA posture for Production and laboratory environments.
    • Ensure that Interoperability and Information Assurance standards and practices are adhered to as it relates issues dealing with a variety of equipment, switches and control devices connecting to both DoD and commercial networks.
    • Provide Information Assurance (IA) support to the program gateways as the ISSM/ISSO. Those duties include but are not limited to the following: Administer the weekly review of the controls in eMASS and PPSM.
    • Maintain the Whitelist Registry, mitigate the weekly IAVMS scans and generate POAMs as necessary. Record the weekly minutes for the internal and external customer meetings.
    • Review and edit all publications and policy guidance manuals that are pertinent to the designated gateways. Update all eMASS POAMS and Controls as necessary and adhere to the conditions of approval as established by the ATO. Attend the weekly IA Review meetings.
    • Work with the DISA and JFHQ DODIN staff to mitigate all issued DTO’s and OPORDS that impact the DECTK and SNLC gateways. Work with the IE31 engineers to generate DTO’s and Implementation Plans for changes that impact the gateways.
    • Ensure that all policies and directives are adhered to in order that continuous Authority To Operate (ATO) is maintained.
    • Possess excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.

     

    DESIRED SKILLS: Broad knowledge and expertise with managing IT Systems and Standards. Experienced in advising senior executives on effective utilization of information technology systems and reengineering to meet business objectives.
