    JOB SUMMARY

AT CSIS WE ACTIVELY SEEK TO EMPLOY A DIVERSE GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO EMBODY OUR ORGANIZATIONAL VALUES. WE WELCOME AND ENCOURAGE INDIVIDUALS OF ALL BACKGROUNDS TO APPLY, ESPECIALLY THOSE FROM TRADITIONALLY UNDERREPRESENTED GROUPS.

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.

CSIS seeks an intern to support the new Renewing American Innovation Project. The RAI Project focuses on the architecture of renewal both proposed and underway to restore the United States’ postwar status as the world’s foremost center of innovation and advancement in science and technology. RAI brings together leaders in academia, industry, and government with events organized around public-private partnerships and concrete policy actions the United States can take – such as modernizing outdated patent and intellectual property laws, boosting competitiveness through standards-setting, and even reforming the immigration system. Given the vast advances in telecommunications, quantum computing, and the medical sciences made globally in the last decade alone, the United States cannot afford to cede its long-standing primacy in science and technology.

This may include writing or editing video scripts or brainstorming visual designs with the Deputy Director and ideasLab designers. • Support the RAI Project through the management of social media pages. Help develop new outreach and social media programs as required. • Assist in virtual event planning at CSIS. Provide support during events, which will include liaising with the CSIS Conferencing and AV teams. • Join Zoom meetings as requested by the Director and take extensive notes that will be shared among the Director, Deputy Director, and senior advisers. • Establish and maintain strong working relationships within CSIS with other programs, as well as with outside organizations when needed. • Assist as needed on ad hoc projects or requests, as directed by Director, Deputy Director, or Program Coordinator.
