    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decisionmakers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.

    The CSIS Aerospace Security Project (ASP) focuses on issues related to space security, air dominance and long-range strike, and commercial and civil space. ASP is seeking a program coordinator who will support the operational and substantive goals of ASP and will be expected to play a key role in the successful administration of ASP. The role is predominantly administrative and no prior experience in space or aerospace issues is required. Responsibilities cross all program components, including: event planning, budget tracking and expense reports, project and intern organization, team scheduling, and development. This person will report directly to the Deputy Director of ASP and will help to maintain all major functions of the entire program, working on a variety of administrative projects, including with other scholars on the team.

    The minimum salary range for this position is $55,000 - $58,000. Salary and title are based on the level of experience and expertise of the chosen candidate.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Organizes the day-to-day operations of the office by assisting the director prepare for staff meetings and other staff-related items;

    • Manages external communications, including event invitations, for the director’s ASP-focused events, projects, and publications;

    • Manages ASP microsite on a routine basis;

    • Monitors all financial transactions (revenue and expenses) for the program on a monthly basis; supports the development of the program budget, budget reviews, and project and proposal reporting;

    • Manages ASP events;

    • Coordinates intern staff in support of program events;

    • Maintain various materials to ensure they are up-to-date, including the ASP staff list, ASP interns, staff meetings, non-resident affiliates, and the ASP onboarding document;

    • Assist other scholars in ASP with various research and administrative tasks, including submitting invoices, maintaining program trackers, paying vendors, and more;

    • Other administrative tasks as needed.

    KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

    • B.A./B.S. in International Relations, Political Science, or related field (minimum GPA 3.0 or equivalent);

    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;

    • Demonstrated ability to manage administrative responsibilities and tasks;

    • Ability to work closely and cooperatively with a range of individuals with diverse interests, backgrounds, dispositions, and executive levels;

    • Ability to write memos, business correspondence, short program descriptions, and other relevant writing assignments, etc.;

    • Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple responsibilities under tight deadlines;

    • Must possess strong communication skills including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from constituency groups, media, governmental entities, and the general public; and

    • Must be computer literate in Windows and Google environments

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS:

    This position will be based out of our Washington DC headquarters and is expected to be in-office 3+ days per week. The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee working in an office environment.     · Operate all aspects of Information Systems (IS) data availability, integrity, authentication, confidentiality, and non-repudiation.

    · Implement and monitor security measures for communication systems, networks, and provide advice that systems and personnel adhere to established security standards and Governmental requirements for security on these systems.

    · Develop and execute Government approved security policies, plans, and procedures; implement data network security measures; operate and monitor network intrusion detection and forensic systems; conduct IS security incident handling; support Continuity of Operations Plan/Disaster Recovery (COOP/DR) plans, and perform certification of IS and networks.

    · Perform other information security duties including operation of Electronic Key Management System (EKMS) and maintenance of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). Operate Host Based Security System (HBSS), firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), other point of presence security tools, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), and related security operations.

    · Perform defensive cyber operation duties including, but not limited to, ensuring workstation and server compliancy with Marine Corps McAfee Host Based Security System (HBSS) requirements; identifying cybersecurity incidents using HBSS, Tenable Security Center, RedSeal, McAfee Security Information and Event Manager (SIEM), and other automated tools; operating Imperva Web Application and Database firewalls; performing forensics and remedial action on cybersecurity incidents; and reporting defensive cyber operations statistics.

    Security Requirements: SECRET and be clearable to TOP SECRET.
