Midwest Transport is a leading Transportation company in Kansas City, Kansas with multiple divisions.  We are looking to hire a Staff Accountant.   With a large and growing accounting team, there is opportunity for growth and advancement within the department.   KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain schedules, prepare and record journal entries to ensure accuracy
• Verify, allocate, post and reconcile transactions
• Accounts Receivable - Keep Accounts Current and send info to customers as needed. 
• Invoice Customers
• Assist with Drive Away Daily Payroll and reconciliations
• Coordinate accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting team or with other departments
• Knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP
• Support month-end and year-end close process

• Regular and consistent attendance
• Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Med/High Level Excel Experience
• Familiarity with accounting software and programs

JOB QUALIFIATIONS:

• Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance Requested
• 4 years plus related experience required
• Must have a valid driver’s license
