    Job Description

    We are seeking an experienced Automotive Product Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and release of electrical components and accessories for specialty vehicles. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and validation teams to deliver innovative, high-quality products on time. The ideal candidate has hands-on electrical and mechanical design experience, strong project management skills, and a passion for creating functional, reliable, and well-engineered vehicle solutions.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with planning and strategy teams to develop new product feature ideas

    • Conduct initial design and feasibility studies with Electrical, Interior, and Exterior product teams, Vehicle Integration, and Product Design teams

    • Create Source Package documents for new products

    • Support purchasing teams in reviewing technical submissions and selecting suppliers

    • Assist with supplier component development and technical guidance as needed

    • Utilize physical and virtual tools for design and validation

    • Lead vehicle and component testing based on Design Verification Plans (DVP)

    • Host engineering development meetings with suppliers and internal teams

    • Track part timelines to ensure on-time product launches

    • Manage and track engineering changes for vehicle systems and components

    • Apply knowledge of part design, manufacturing processes, and material selection

    • Support projects related to aftermarket vehicle conversions or specialty vehicle customizations (preferred)

    • Design electrical systems including wire harnesses or related components

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field

    • Minimum of 2 years of automotive engineering design and release experience

    • Hands-on experience with electrical design and vehicle systems

    • Strong understanding of design, manufacturing, and validation processes

    • Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills

    Preferred Experience

    • Experience with specialty vehicle conversions or aftermarket vehicle accessories

    • Knowledge of police, emergency, or fleet vehicle requirements

    • Familiarity with custom brackets, consoles, spotlights, power distribution centers, and vehicle harnesses
