Quality Engineer Surface Solutions Balzers Industrial Solutions | Elgin - Position: Quality Engineer - Location: Elgin, IL - Responsibilities - Analyze quality trends through data mining and analysis and conduct monthly Quality Council Meetings to help find and resolve quality issues through root cause analysis and problem solving processes (PSP) - Conduct quality audits as prescribed by the local quality registration (ISO or Customer Requirements) - Participate in the analysis and disposition of non-conforming product as required - Interface with customers to resolve quality issues and facilitate quality-planning (APQP) and development of work instructions for customer-specific requirements. These activities will require the use of various inspection equipment to include: - X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) - Various Hardness testers - Visual inspection and Microscope - Maintain the ISO 9001:2008 and/or ISO 13485 Medical Quality Management Systems, if required, to ensure compliance with global, national and local requirements. - We expect Education: - Minimum: 4 year degree in Quality, Engineering or a related discipline or equivalent experience. - Professional certification in quality disciplines (ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred). Experience: - 2+ years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing and/or production environment. - 2+ years of experience implementing and executing ISO 9001:2000/ ISO:13485 standards is highly preferred. Skills: - Proficient using MS Office (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access) as required - Ability to effectively use problem-solving tools such as Pareto charts, SPC methodologies, cause and effect diagrams as well as 8D (or a similar problem solving discipline). - Proven experience with APQP / PPAP disciplines. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required as well as strong presentation and team-building skills. - About us Oerlikon is a leading global technology Group, with a clear strategy of becoming a global powerhouse in Surface Solutions, advanced materials and materials processing.
