OCTA creates, funds, and delivers efficient transportation for Orange County. We keep Orange County moving with extensive bus and paratransit service, Metrolink commuter rail service, the 91 Express Lanes Toll Road, motorist services and freeway, street and road improvement projects. OCTA began in in 1991 with the consolidation of seven separate transportation agencies. OCTA is dedicated to its organizational mission and core values. Overview: Under limited supervision, supports maintenance and facilities by providing parts, safety equipment, operating supplies, fuels, and lubricants. The starting pay rate for this position is $21.24 per hour. The rate increases to $22.11 per hour after 6 months. Pay rate increases incrementally according to the union contract. Current top wage is $29.46 per hour after 60 months. The application deadline for this position is Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Responsibilities This list is intended to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification and is not designed to be interpreted as an exhaustive listing of all tasks required of employees assigned to this job. * Pulls, stages, and issues parts and supplies to mechanics. * Performs inventory cycle counting. * Screens and returns warrantable parts to disposition warehouse for claims. * Conducts, provides and records fuel readings for ordering and maintaining proper fuel levels. * Receives material from vendors or interdivisional transfers and places items in their assigned groups and proper location. * Pulls, tags, and packages material for shipment to vendors or for interdivisional transfers. * Creates requisitions for the purchase of material. Qualifications Any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and two years experience in inventory control, automotive equipment parts, maintaining computerized records. APICS Certification desirable. Special Qualifications: A valid California Driver License and a good DMV driving record in accordance with agency standards is required. Knowledge of: * Material management operating systems. * Microsoft Office software including Excel and Word. * Inventory and warehouse practices. * Use of computerized inventory system. * Diesel and natural gas engines. * Parts identification and storage requirements, first in, first out practices. * Expediting and following up on parts shortages. * Use of personal computers to enhance productivity, e-mail, word processing and spreadsheets. Ability to: * Read and interpret parts catalogs, both online and manual copy. * Operate a forklift and other related material handling equipment. * Lift and transport various sizes and shapes of bus parts and equipment that may be of considerable weight, up to 75 pounds. * Utilize a personal computer. * Speak, read, and write the English language. * Work different shifts at various agency locations. * Drive a truck to one or more agency locations. * Communicate effectively and precisely. * Maintain accurate inventory records and reports. Working Conditions/Physical Activities: Inventory stockrooms operate seven days a week, twenty-four hours per day at various locations. Incumbents in this position may be required to work day, swing, or graveyard shifts, at any of the identified locations.
