    JOB SUMMARY:

At CSIS we actively seek to employ a diverse group of people who embody our organizational values. We welcome and encourage individuals of all backgrounds to apply, especially those from traditionally underrepresented groups.

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe. CSIS is seeking a research intern to join the Project on Prosperity and Development (PPD) starting in early January 2022. Internships are seasonal and typically last 4 months with the possibility of extension up to 6 months at the discretion of the program. The intern will be paid at an hourly rate.

Successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the program’s ongoing research on U.S. leadership in enabling financial inclusion through digital development. CSIS has done extensive work on this subject area which sits at the intersection of international security, cash-transfers and welfare systems, economic governance, financial integrity, digital revolution, and U.S. foreign policy. Successful candidate will be expected to have some understanding on these issue areas and have expertise on at least one of these areas. They should also have strong experience performing independent research and delivering on written analysis. The candidate should also be prepared to undertake multiple assignments and deliver high-quality content within reasonable deadlines. Because of the fast-paced work environment, the candidate would be a motivated self-starter with a strong writing background and excellent attention to detail. Candidates should be expected to be at their professional best through the course of this internship and be prepared to work on a diverse set of research topics. Intern will work very closely with the Senior Fellow and the Research Associate and report to the Janina Staguhn.
